Goodall's Community Lifestyles Director is this month's "Woman of Wilson": Jana Pastors

(From the Wilson Post.  Written by Sabrina Garrett.  February 25, 2015.  Click here for article): This week's Woman of Wilson can be summed up in a quote, which she attributes to Lebanon City Council Member and friend, Rob Cesternino: "It is amazing how you manage to never have a bad hair day in spite of wearing so many hats." If you've noticed Jana Pastors around town, chances are she is busy working at one of her multiple careers or volunteering for a charitable cause - and yes, always sporting good hair. Pastors, originally from Nashville, came to Wilson County after high school to attend Cumberland University on an academic and dance scholarship. She obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology in 2006 and her Masters of Organizational Leadership & Human Relations in 2008. It was during college that she met her husband, Adam, who transferred to Cumberland from Lipscomb University. Pastors said they were both involved in Greek Life - she was Vice President for AOII and he was Treasurer for Kappa Sigma. "I was looking for an individual to engage in routine fitness. I noticed how dedicated he was to fitness and meeting goals so I asked him to help train me. Through time we became best friends," she explained. "At some point, he decided he preferred a more intimate relationship with me. So the chase began." The couple married on Nov. 23, 2008, in a small family ceremony at Vanderbilt Scarritt Bennett Chapel. Although they do not currently have children, they have a "very energetic and playful dog named Mason," which they adopted at New Leash on Life. They also have a Maine-Coon cat named Abbey. Pastors is the community lifestyle director with 2014 National Home Builder of the Year, Goodall Homes. "While Goodall Homes is in the development stage, my focus is to create a lifestyle that enriches the homeowners' experience within the community and to develop a relationship between the community and the city it resides in," she explained. "Each Goodall home community has a vision to develop a type of lifestyle that caters to the owners. I am there to start the process and implement the reality of the experience. I am blessed to work with a team that is dedicated to their trade and the well-being of their homeowners." Pastors also has a photography business, Kindred Moments Photography & Design. "I retired from my dance career and needed a creative outlet. Initially, I started taking photos of simple still life photography, and with the encouragement of my friends and family, my new-found passion evolved into a profession," she said. Her favorite photography is fashion because "it has various creative aspects of art that come together as one" - however, she also photographs weddings, portraits, landscape and more. Pastors donates her free time to being a member of the Photography Committee for the Wilson County Fair, attending local government meetings and being a Wilson Bank & Trust council member. She added that visual arts are still a passion of hers, and drawing and sketching are favorite hobbies. "My mother always told me not to put all your eggs in one basket. My life is never boring and it takes a lot of good time management. I love my job every day because each day tells a different story," she said. The woman she most admires is her mother. "I grew up with my mother teaching me ways to be creative and to think outside of the box," Pastors said. "Her passion was oil painting and visual arts while holding a respectful career in the medical field. She was the most incredible woman I have ever known. "I remember the day after I graduated high school, she threw clothes on my bed and said, 'You are now in the working field. Get up and get dressed.' After that point, I knew the training began. I worked side-by-side with my mother at Tennessee Orthopedic Alliance while attending Cumberland University," she said. "So many people looked up to her and respected her for her selfless, kind-heartedness. Above all, she was a realist - preparing me for what challenges I might cross both personally and professionally." Her mother passed away unexpectedly in 2008 - when Pastors was just 24-years-old. "During her last days with us she assured me that every choice I make in life God will help lead the way. She remains my daily inspiration, and I only strive to make her proud."
