Shaun Meadows and family

(This is an email from a former teammate of Shaun Meadow’s–David Overton, and his wife Tami.)

Tami and I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank Goodall Homes for their support of Operation Finally Home.  This organization helps to provide mortgage free homes for severely wounded veterans throughout the United States.  On the 2nd of September during a Big and Rich/Gretchen Wilson concert,  Goodall Homes announced that they would be building a home in TN for a friend and former teammate of mine who was wounded in Afghanistan,  Shaun Meadows.  This was an incredible evening that I will never forget.

Thank you again to everyone at Goodall Homes.

Operation FINALLY HOME Announces Middle Tennessee Build

Categories: Awards, Bay Area Builders Association, Events, Goodall Homes and Communities, Goodall News, Guild Quality, LP Building Products, Nashville Area Homebuilder, National Housing Quality Award, New Homes Nashville Area, Operation FINALLY HOME, Professional Builder Magazine | This post was written by: amberdavis

Organization to partner with Goodall Homes and LP Building Products to construct a home for Shaun Meadows, a double amputee Afghanistan combat veteran.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (September 2, 2011) – Operation FINALLY HOME, a 501(c)(3) organization with the mission to provide custom-made, mortgage-free homes to wounded and disabled veterans and the widows of the fallen, announced plans to build a home for Middle Tennessee soldier, Shaun Meadows.  Award-winning builder Goodall Homes has committed to build the home and Nashville-based LP Building Products will serve as lead sponsor, donating materials for the project.

Born out of the Bay Area Builders Association Support Our Troops effort, Operation FINALLY HOME was founded by Dan Wallrath in 2005. Daniel Vargas, a retired U.S. Air Force Technical Sergeant runs the organization out of New Braunfels, Texas. The program provides custom-made homes to wounded and disabled veterans as well as to widows of the fallen to help them get their lives back on track.

“Our mission is to help wounded heroes like Shaun and their families transition from the battlefront to the home front,” said Vargas “We help in this transition by building homes for these heroes. The only way this objective is possible is through partnerships and support from corporate sponsors, builder associations, builders, developers, individual contributors and volunteers. Goodall Homes, LP Building Products and a generous donation from country music stars Big & Rich and Gretchen Wilson are making this Middle Tennessee build possible.”

Shaun Meadows is a 31-year-old Afghanistan combat veteran. While deployed in Afghanistan in 2008 Meadows was injured by an IED and became a bi-lateral above-knee amputee. Following his injury, Meadows had a year-long stay at Walter Reed Army Medical Center for recovery and rehab. He began walking two and a half months post injury and started running six months post injury. Meadows retired from the Air Force in January 2011 and moved to Tennessee. Married to Nicole Meadows, the couple has a six-year-old son, Trevor.

“Goodall Homes is proud to be a part of this project,” said Keith Porterfield, Chief Operating Officer. “This build is all about giving Shaun Meadows the security he needs and deserves for his family. We are looking forward to handing the much-deserved keys to a custom-made home to this hero.”

The Meadows’ home build is scheduled to begin in early November with a projected completion date on Memorial Day 2012.

“LP Building Products is proud to partner once again with Operation FINALLY HOME,” said Rick Olszewski, executive vice president of specialty products, sales and marketing. “This collaborative effort represents our respect for and support of our soldiers. To build this home for Shaun right here in our home state makes playing a role in building this home even more meaningful.”

Goodall Homes Receives a 2011 National Housing Quality Award

Categories: Awards, Goodall Homes and Communities, Goodall News, Nashville Area Homebuilder, National Housing Quality Award, New Homes Nashville Area, Professional Builder Magazine, Realtor News, TN Homes | This post was written by: amberdavis

Adding to the numerous honors it has received this year, Goodall Homes and Communities is proud to have been chosen as a recipient of a bronze level National Housing Quality Award, making it one of only four builders nationally to have been honored this year. Awarded through a joint effort by Professional Builder magazine and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Research Center, the National Housing Quality Awards recognize the best in quality-driven home building companies nationwide through a rigorous application and on-site evaluation process.

Regarding the application and evaluation process for the award, Goodall’s Chief Operating Officer Keith Porterfield saw it as a unique opportunity. “On a daily basis, we seek areas in which we can improve and refine our processes. The NHQ award application, along with our open book management approach and customer service focus, provided another vehicle through which we can strengthen our organization. Being chosen as a bronze award winner was a terrific end result to the exercise.”

Goodall Homes Featured in the Tennessean’s Builder Spotlight

Categories: Awards, Events, Goodall Homes and Communities, Goodall News, Nashville Area Homebuilder, National Housing Quality Award, New Homes Nashville Area, Professional Builder Magazine, TN Homes | This post was written by: amberdavis

For the second time this summer, Goodall Homes has been chosen to be featured in The Tennessean’s “Builder Spotlight”.  This was in the Real Estate section of the paper on Sunday, August 28, 2011.

(Written by Bill Lewis for The Tennessean.)

BUILDER SPOTLIGHT

Goodall Homes & Communities–Bob Goodall, owner and president (www.goodallhomes.com)

Years in Business:  28

Builder Statement:

Goodall Homes & Communities’ areas of specialization include residential land development, home construction and new home sales.  Despite the challenging economic climate, 2010 proved to be a record-breaking year, with a 23 percent sales increase over 2009, the second straight year for increases in sales and closings.

Goodall Homes is also award-winning.  Goodall was recently awarded the prestigious National Housing Quality Award (Bronze Award), sponsored by Professional Builder Magazine and the National Association of Homebuilders Research Center, the only homebuilder in the Southeast to win this award.  Goodall also was awarded the 2010 Guildmaster Award for Outstanding Customer Service.

Goodall Homes has an unwavering commitment to building great homes at great values and providing unmatched customer service.  Our company operates with an “open book management” philosophy that shares all information with employees during weekly meetings.  This approach empowers all employees to work together to meet the company’s strategic initiatives.  It also creates an unequaled work environment where employees feel valued and supported.

Finally, Goodall works hard to foster strong relationships with our trade partners through our Trade Partner Council.  This empowers or partners to work hand in hand with Goodall in achieving a “win-win” approach to building quality homes through effective processes.

How were you selected for the National Housing Quality Award?

Goodall’s 400-plus-page application was reviewed by a committee.  During a two-day visit, judges met with the executive management team, individual employees and trade partners to verify information and analyze the company’s processes and environment.  This year, only four homebuilders were selected, including Goodall Homes.

All of your homes are Easy Living certified.  What does that involve?

Our customers appreciate the ease of a zero-step entry into the home, wider doorways throughout and more space in the kitchens and bathrooms to allow for easy maneuverability throughout the main living space on the first floor.

What developments do you have under way or recently completed n Middle Tennessee?

Goodall Homes has 12 locations in the most desirable areas of Middle Tennessee.  Locations include Ladd Park and Bent Creek in Williamson County; Windstar Bay, Waterford Crossing, Cottage Grove, Lenox Place (a 55 and Better Community), Cambridge Farms and Elk Acres in Sumner County; StoneBridge (a beautifully master-planned community) and Providence Landing at Ellenwood Farms in Wilson County; and Magnolia Village in Robertson County.  Opening soon will be our newest community, Foxland Harbor in Sumner County.  This exclusive community will offer both lakefront and championship golf course living.

What advice do you give your customers about buying a home in today’s economic environment?

Contrary to what people are hearing in the news, there has never been a better time to buy a home.  Here in Middle Tennessee, home prices are affordable and interest rates are at historic lows.  I encourage responsible individuals and families looking for a new home to not wait.  The market is on its way to recovering, and when that happens, prices and interest rates will go up.

What type of housing do the company’s developments include?

Single-family homes, villas, townhomes and condominiums.

What is the range of home sizes or average size?

Homes range from 1,100 to more than 3,200 square feet.

Are buyers looking for smaller houses now? What’s driving that trend?

There has been a shift over the last three years to smaller homes.  We are seeing many buyers that have owned homes above 4,000 square feet downsize to the 2,000 to 3,500 square-foot range.  Many of those buyers are looking for one-level living with the most important features being the owner’s suite on the main level and open kitchens to the great room for entertaining.

What is the price range of your houses?

Homes range from $119,990 to more than $400,000.

What features are most popular?

While features like granite, open kitchens and an owner’s suite on the main level remain popular, we continue to see a desire for one-level living.

Who is your customer base?

Goodall Homes has positioned itself to meet the needs of most buyer demographics.  Our single-family homes, villas, town homes and condominiums will meet the needs of the first-time buyer, the second- or third-time move-up buyer, the move-down buyer or even the retiree.

What is the hallmark of your homes?

Goodall Homes has built thousands of homes in Middle Tennessee with the same focus:  well-built, energy efficient, Easy Living-certified homes that meet the needs of buyers, no matter their stage in life.

(Thank you, Bill Lewis, for so wonderfully featuring Goodall Homes in the “Builder Spotlight” section of The Tennessean.)
